Richard Lorenc of the Illinois Policy Institute continues to track the city of Rockford's progress (and tentative success) towards educational choice. On January 13th, 2009 the Rockford School Board unanimously approved the Legacy Charter School's application. This means that Rockford, IL will have its first charter school by 2010.
