The publication stresses the importance of keeping parents informed of the performance of their local schools and giving them enough time to decide which one is best for their children. The Secretary stated the value of keeping parents educated in her press release:
“Families want choices in education because they know their children benefit from them. By offering a range of educational options for parents and injecting competition into the system, we support innovations that help students do better."
